What is niche marketing??? People use this term many times to impress others with their knowledge of Internet marketing, but sometimes to actually convey some real meaning and content to another. Hopefully, what you're about to read will fall in the category of the latter and you'll actually learn something after reading it.
When used in business the term implies a situation or an activity perfectly suited to a person or a given type of personality. This concept has been extended from persons to products on the market. By definition, then, a person or business that focuses on a niche market is addressing a need for a product or service that is not being addressed by mainstream providers. You can think of a niche market as a narrowly defined group of potential customers. The Niche marketing concept involves targeting the keywords and phrases for those specific terms. This is done to get advantage in the search listings by optimizing less competitive, less searched but more targeted keywords or phrases. If you are marketing a product and you choose a field that is too broad it may be hard to stand out from the competition. eg. if you had to google the term "make money online" you would get 245,000,000 results... those odds make it practically impossible for the niche to stand out from the crowd. However, a more highly targeted niche could attain a much better rank and dramatically decrease the odds. Choosing a niche product or service you are knowledgeable about help alot in your own interest. If you don't have the knowledge yet, then choose a niche product that you would love to promote, then spend the necessary time to research it, so you can eventually become an expert in your marketing niche. If you do find a niche product or service you are passionate about, it will greatly improve your chances of being successful. Why? Because it's the only way you're going to be able to devote the kind of time and effort to create a meaningful site or blog, build up the right traffic, generate worthwhile income, and enjoy what you're doing.
Keyword research will aid in finding a good niche... There are online tools that offer information about the number of times users perform searches for specific words. This is very important, because it will help you to optimize for keywords the search engines see. Two of the best-known keyword research tools are Wordtracker and Overture. All you have to do is put the information from your research together and decide which keywords are going to deliver the best performance for you. Note that I said "performance;" the best keywords might not be the ones that will deliver the most traffic, you need to perform measurements to see whether it's delivering the amount of traffic and conversions you expected. You can use this information to make adjustments and refine your keyword strategy.
Choosing the right niche market is the top sound principle that will ensure your success!
